Pond Water Treatment System Information
The pond water treatment systems that Aquatek Water Conditioning installs are approved by the Ohio Department of Health. Maintenance on your system is essential in order to keep your equipment running efficiently and to maintain water quality. Below is some important information on your system. Please note, the image below is a pond system that was installed per the 2020 code. Layouts of systems may differ from home to home according to code under which it was installed as well as space available for the equipment at the time of installation.
Floating Pond Filter Element
The pond filter element plays an essential role in a pond water treatment system and is located in the pond. This product filters general debris from the water to protect the water pump and is the main component of the Complete Pond Filter Assembly. The water filter should be changed annually, but high-volume water usage may require the filter to be changed more often. A clogged or collapsed pond filter element can result in loss of water and even damage to your system’s equipment. At the beginning of each calendar year, we offer a Pond Filter Pre-Pay special in which you can schedule your filter to be changed by our technicians on a special route in June, July or August. We also sell pond filter elements in our storefront as well as online!
Jet Pump
This is the pump that brings the water in from the pond to your home or barn. This pump carries a one-year factory warranty from the date of installation.
Pressure Tank & Retention Tanks
These tanks carry a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty from the date of installation.
Stenner Pump(s)
These chemical injection pumps carry a one-year warranty that exclude perishable parts. The manufacturer recommends annual replacement of the tubes and duckbill check valves, but high-volume water usage may require the components to be changed more often.
Backwashing Filters (Carbon and Sediment/Sand filter
The mechanical components of the valve head carry a 5-year warranty. We recommend rebed (replacement) of the media inside the tanks every four years. For more information, watch our video on what rebed means and why it is important in maintaining your pond water treatment system. What is a Rebed and Why is it Important?
Inline Filters
These filters should be changed as needed. We recommend changing these filters at least annually but high-volume water usage may require the filters to be changed more often. Low water pressure is one of the first signs of a plugged filter.
Solution Tanks
Each solution tank is 15 gallons.
Chlorine: The ratio for chlorine in your solution tank should be one gallon chlorine to 10 gallons of water. Please do NOT use scented or splash-less bleach. Please note: most chain store bleach bottles are no longer full gallon in size.
Alum: Mix 2 cups of alum with 10 gallons of water.
Products
Filters; alum; chlorine; Stenner tubes & duckbills; as well as numerous products for treating the pond itself are available in our store and many can be found in our online store.
